Soccer Team Denied Equal Pay – The women representing the United States in the international soccer team are could possibly be the most successful US team in history. Undefeated in the current world cup and so far brining home four previous Women’s World Cup titles (1991, 1999, 2015, and 2019), four Olympic gold medals (1996, 2004, 2008, and 2012), and eight CONCACAF Gold Cups. This in addition to a host of other titles.

They are fighting for equal pay at international events and the media, including a recent HBO documentary outlining their fight, are on their side.

So why is it that US Soccer has denied them?

Recently, a suit for equal pay was dismissed by a judge. There is an appeal against this decision pending.

Recently the CEO of a famous women’s apparel company donated $1million dollars to lessen the gap, but why should such an injustice occur?

The ladies’ team has brought in more world cups than the men so far, the tally being 4 cups to the women (and probably 5 after this year) to the Mens 1 in 1950. The US women’s soccer team was ranked number 1 in the world from 2008 to 2014. The longest consecutive ranking of any team ever.

The injustice and disparity has gone so far now that The GOALS Act threatens to cut federal funding for the 2026 World Cup if the U.S. Soccer Federation does not comply with demands for equal pay.
