- Jalen Ramsey, Jacksonville Jaguars
The former fifth overall pick in the 2016 draft has certainly lived up to the hype he garnered coming out of Tennessee. Ramsey is an inhuman athlete who can stack up against any receiver in the NFL. Ramsey also posses the all important clutch factor, with 4 out of his 6 career interceptions coming in one possession games.
He was also able to seal Jacksonville’s playoff win against Buffalo in the Wild Card round this year with a diving interception, with less then a minute left in the game. Ramsey received first team All-Pro honors this year in his second season, and at only 23 years old the sky is the limit for this insane talent.
- Marshon Lattimore, New Orleans Saints
Lattimore made a huge impact in the Saints secondary in his rookie season, which led to him winning defensive rookie of the year. Lattimore showed a knack for covering apposing teams number one WRs, and proved to have a nose for the ball collecting five picks, tied for fifth in the NFL with the next guy on the list.
With Lattimore gaining a reputation as an elite CB in his first season, its scary to think he should only get better from here. The Saints certainly need him with receivers like Mike Evans and Julio Jones in their division.
- Patrick Peterson, Arizona Cardinals
Much like Ramsey, Peterson is an athletic freak with a tendency to make big plays. Peterson has been the gold standard among cb’s in the NFL for some time now, and even though he didn’t have his strongest campaign in 2017 I fully expect him to put reclaim his throne as a top notch corner in 2018. Other teams know not to test Peterson which led to him only being targeted on 14.2 percent of his snaps, which was the third lowest among qualifying corners.
The lack of targets led to Peterson leading the league in yards surrendered per game at 22.6.. Even with Peterson leading that important categorie, people may scoff at this selection after Peterson only intercepted one ball and gave up 4 touchdowns last year, but mark my words Peterson will be back better then ever next season.
- Marcus Peters, Kasas City Chiefs
Pieter’s had an up in down 2017 both on and off the field, but there is no denying the talent he has. He has established himself as a ball hawk with five or more interceptions in each of his first three seasons, and has the ability to hang with some of the most physical recievers in the league. His lack of elite speed can get him in trouble sometimes and has led to some big plays for the opposition at times.
However, Peters ability to flip the field for his team is a constant plus for the Chiefs and puts him in the conversation for elite CB status. If he can keep his sideline antics down in 2018 he will have a chance to prove he truly is one of the best CBs in the league.
- Chris Harris Jr., Denver Broncos
He’s not one of the flashiest cornerbacks in the league, but he does his job just as well if not better then every other corner in the NFL. The former undrafted free agent can cover anyone on the field and has recorded at least two interceptions for Denver every year since 2012. Many look for elite corners to be athletic monsters with loud mouths and big play ability, but I’d take the quite consistently of Harris Jr. any day of the week.
