Watching the CFB Season 2021 where students battle out on a football pitch is one of the best things to do on the weekend. Some may argue that college football is better than the NFL. Their pitches, fight songs, marching bands, and young competitive players make college football a joy to watch.
In 2021, I am eagerly awaiting college football, and just imagining how it will turn out gives me goosebumps. Watching the universities battle for pride on the grandest stages makes my skin crawl, and I am losing patience waiting for college football to start.
When will the season start?
CFB Season 2021
College football season (week zero) 2021 starts on Saturday, August 28. However, the top-level college football, Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), will kick off its season in the following week. The matches scheduled for August 28 are;
• Southern Utah at San Jose State on CBSSN at 10 p.m.
• UConn at Fresno State on CBSSN at 2 p.m.
• UTEP at New Mexico State on FloFootball at 9:30 p.m.
• Hawai’i at UCLA on ESPN at 3:30 p.m.
• Nebraska at Illinois on FOX at 1 p.m.
After August 28, the college games shall resume on September 1, whereby we will have a fixture of UAB vs. Jacksonville. The game will be followed by;
Thursday, September 2- Ohio State at Minnesota
Friday, September 3- North Carolina visits Virginia Tech
Saturday, September 4- Clemson and Georgia in Charlotte (7:30 p.m.) on ABC
2021 College Football Playoff
The 2021 college football playoff will be the eighth edition. Also, there will be some exciting New Year’s bowl games. These bowl games will be six in number. The following are some of the games you can expect for the 2021 college football playoff and New Year’s bowl games;
December 30 at 7p.m- Peach Bowl
December 31 at 3:30 p.m. or 7:30 p.m.- Cotton Bowl (CFP semifinals)
December 31 at 3:30 p.m. or 7:30 p.m.- Orange Bowl (CFP semifinals)
January 1 at 1 p.m.- Fiesta bowl
January 1 at 5 p.m.- Rose bowl
January 1 at 8:45 p.m.- The sugar bowl
January 10- CFP National Championship Game (at Indianapolis, Indiana)
It will be the first time for Indianapolis to host the CFP National Championship Game. The 2021 season is packed with lots of excitement that you would not want to miss. The fixtures are exciting, and fans cannot be patient enough to wait for the season to begin.
Preseason top champions for the 2021 season
For every season, fans have high hopes for specific teams due to their reputation and performances. This season is no different, and there are particular teams that we expect to shine above the rest. The 2021 season top teams include;
Alabama (13-0 in 2020)
Alabama is the defending champion, and their onslaught is likely to continue. In this season, they will lose some talented players, but the team will still be lethal under the leadership of Nick Saban. The Tide will want to add another title to their collection; hence, it will be a fiery opponent to face.
Clemson (10-2 in 2020)
When fans think of teams that will make a Football Playoff appearance, they never leave out Clemson. Clemson is loaded with talent in their arsenal. In 2021, their defense is likely to be more lethal as it will be older and more experienced.
Oklahoma (9-2 in 2020)
Oklahoma had a bad start last season as they lost 2 out of the three first games. However, this did not deter them as they went on to have eight consecutive wins, including a win against Iowa State, a Big 12 title game. In 2021, the team is likely to be lethal and entertaining to watch.
Ohio State (7-1 in 2020)
When Justin Fields left OSU, many people thought that the team would play mediocre, but fortunately, this has not been the case. With the guidance of Coach Ryan Day, the team has delivered quality on the field, including a win against Clemson. We expect the same to continue in the 2021 season.
Georgia (8-2 in 2020)
UGA has one of the best offenses. Teams always need to be careful about the UGA offense, which ranks them to be among the top. That being said, there is pressure on them to subdue ‘Bama as it has always emerged superior to them.
