One of the greats of Rugby League passed away last night after years of battling with dementia.  The St George Dragons released this statement –

The Dragons are deeply saddened to learn about the passing of immortal Norm Provan. A gladiator, warrior and a giant of the game, Provan’s legacy will be remembered not only by the Dragons but in rugby league forever. Never before, never again.

A Rugby League’s 13th Immortal and figurehead of St George’s unprecedented 11-year reign as NSW premiers between 1956.  Norman has been immortalized in the grand final trophy nicknamed ‘the gladiators’ beside Arthur Summons.
