In 1984 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar became the leading scorer in the NBA with 38,387 points. Many said that this feat could never be emulated yet alone beaten but records are there to be broken. As LeBron James in his 19th NBA season inches closer with only 3000 odd points left to match the record Kareem has said he is excited at the prospect of his record being beaten seeing it as a human achievement not a personal accomplishment.
If LeBron was to play in all 82 games this season he would need an average of 36.9 points per game to beat the record. His average up until now has been roughly 25 points per game that would require 121 more games. Barring injury or suspension he will break the record mid season next year.
